Gareth Southgate provides injury update on Kyle Walker after limping off against Brazil | Football

Manchester City star, Kyle Walker will undergo tests to determine the severity of the hamstring injury he suffered in England’s friendly defeat to Brazil.

Walker, who captained the Three Lions on Saturday night in the absence of Harry Kane, raced to his side’s aid early in the first-half after Vinicius Jr almost opened the scoring for the visitors.

The Real Madrid star slid his effort past Jordan Pickford in the England goal but Walker raced back to prevent it crossing the line before clearing to safety.

The 34-year-old appeared to injure his left hamstring in the process, going down and receiving

After briefly attempting to play on, he was replaced by Ezri Konsa who came on for his international debut.

Walker will now surely be a doubt for England’s friendly match against Belgium on Tuesday but the sight of him being replaced will be of far greater concern to Man City who are in a three-way battle for the Premier League title – a fight that resumes with a  clash against Arsenal on 31 March.

Asked about Walker’s injury at full-time, Gareth Southgate told Channel 4: ‘We don’t know yet. He is feeling something but he is not a player who is injured very often so he’s not quite certain what it is/

‘So it is something we have to assess in the coming days.’
