Great British Bake Off judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood have seen some sights in the famous tent, but this one really takes the biscuit.

Well, cake.

During a celebrity special in honour of Stand Up to Cancer, Leigh Francis, Yinka Bokinni, Rhod Gilbert, and Danny Dyer donned their aprons to compete for the coveted Star Baker title.

Ultimately, there could only be one winner, with Celebrity Juice star Leigh – aka Keith Lemon – emerging victorious thanks to the ‘most disgusting’ thing Dame Prue has ever seen.

The showstopper round saw the famous bakers tasked with baking ‘something you would only tell your therapist.’

The only requirements were that the cake had two layers of sponge, was sandwiched together with butter cream or jam, and decorated in an entertaining way.

With three hours on the clock, the celebs got to work, and it was Leigh – who admitted he was ‘nervous’ – who decided to go all out with a very gory creation.

Explaining to Dame Prue, Paul, Alison Hammond, and Noel Fielding the inspiration behind his cake, he began: ‘I went snowboarding and I knocked off my toenail.

‘My shoe felt like it was filled with water, but it was blood.’

‘It was like a horror film,’ he confessed.

‘The toenail came off and then it grew back all wrong, so I had my matrix taken off. That’s what it’s called where it grows from, the matrix.

‘It didn’t grow back right, so I’ve got a sausage toe.’

We shall leave you with that image…

Recreating the horror incident in cake form, Leigh opted for a chocolate sponge covered in cocoa buttercream, decorated with fondant icing, which was airbrushed to create a skin-like texture.

When the foot was presented to the judges, it’s safe to say they were stunned, speechless at how life-like Leigh’s foot looked as it oozed with blood and a fake nail hung off the end.

‘It is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen,’ Dame Prue told him which was, well, somewhat of a compliment…

‘The reason is because it’s so real,’ Paul chimed in, as Dame Prue complimented: ‘That is unbelievable. It looks so good.’

Upon tasting the creation, the cake was hailed as ‘delicious’ by Dame Prue, despite wincing when Paul cut into it.

‘The buttercream is lovely, really nice cake, good sponge,’ she told him.

Paul added: ‘The layers are beautifully equal as well but, for me, the killer thing is the design. That is fantastic.’

Leigh explained that this was ‘the first cake’ he had ever made, and he was far from confident at the thought of presenting it.

‘I’ve never made a cake in my life,’ he confessed.

‘I think you should stop here,’ Dame Prue told him.

‘I don’t think you’ll ever beat that.’

Reacting to Leigh’s bake, social media users were equally impressed as they were freaked out.

X user geordiegalg wrote: ‘That foot is incredible! Gruesome but incredible!’

Bufferb2012 praised it as ‘genius’ but admitted it was ‘disgusting’.

RussC2023 wrote it was a ‘tremendous foot cake’, while elliejcruse said it was ‘scarily realistic’.

Good luck to the next baker who steps into the tend trying to top that…
