Elgato has announced the Facecam MK.2 which targets streamers and creators looking to improve their content quality. Supporting HDR and high refresh rates, this newer version has everything to please.

The Facecam MK.2 measures 84mm (W) x 38mm (H) x 61mm (D) and weighs 90g. It uses a Sony Starvis CMOS sensor topped by an Elgato Prime lens with the following specs:

  • Focus Range: 30 to 120cm
  • Aperture: f/2.4
  • Focal Length: 24mm (full-frame equivalent)
  • Field of View: 84° (diagonal)

The Facecam MK.2 supports both PC and Mac, with tuning available through Elgato’s webcam software and Stream Deck. Moreover, in addition to the usual webcam settings, the Facecam MK.2 also provides control over the ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and more, for a customised image akin to a DSLR.

The Facecam MK.2 offers you more lens control allowing you to tilt vertically and pan sideways. You can also fine-tune your field of view if you want to crop out parts of your room.

The Facecam MK.2 aims to deliver superior detail and colour accuracy compared to its predecessor. Plus, thanks to its improved sensitivity, it should handle low-light conditions much better for those recording in dark(er) rooms. On the opposite side, high contrast lighting in bright spaces is also better handled thanks to HDR.

The brand claims the webcam can capture uncompressed 1080p 60fps HDR video even in low-light scenarios, delivering high detail and colour fidelity. If you don’t mind recording at a lower resolution, the Facecam MK.2 can do up to 120fps at 720p. Excellent if you film fast-paced movements or like to record slow-mo clips.

If you prefer to use a tripod or a different mount instead of the included monitor clamp, note that the MK2 comes equipped with a 1/4-inch thread. It also features a sliding shutter for extra privacy and security. As for connectivity, Elgato recommends a USB 3.0 or better.

The Facecam MK.2 will be available at £149.99 / €149.99 / $149.99.
