Nnewi Anglican Diocese Opens Rice Mill (Photos)

To help meet the demand for locally produced rice, the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi has opened a rice processing and milling company, known as DONAC/ADON Agro Allied Rice Mill.

Located in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi officially opened the rice mill on Monday, 1st April, 2024.

Speaking during the opening of the rice mill, the Anglican Bishop, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, said that the opening of the rice mill is part of the investment of the Diocese geared towards boosting food production to complement the efforts of the government and other private individuals in the area of food availability and affordability.

The Bishop revealed that the Diocese has made a lot of investment in the area of agriculture, emphasizing that beyond minimizing poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity, one can never go wrong going into food business.

He urged the management of the mill to ensure efficient operations, good customer service, and a maintenance culture in the operations of the facility.

On his part, the Manager of the mill, Rev. Ndubuisi Uzor, said that the rice mill which is one of the biggest in the region, said that the facility has the intake, parboiling, milling, and packaging sections.

According to him, the Diocese will engage out growers who will support the mill by providing more paddies.
