Mohamed Salah scored a record-breaking during Liverpool’s epic FA Cup clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Liverpool’s dream of winning a ‘quadruple’ came to an end at the hands of arch-rivals United who won 4-3 with Amad Diallo scoring the winner in the 121st minute.

Scott McTominay opened the scoring for the unfancied United before Alexis Mac Allister and Salah scored just before the break to give the visitors the lead.

Antony fired in only his second goal of the season late on to send the match to extra-time, where Harvey Elliott and Marcus Rashford both found the back of the net to keep the tie level.

Penalties were on the horizon before, from Liverpool’s corner, Diallo raced up the pitch to fire past Caoimhin Kelleher, though he was shown a second yellow card for taking his shirt off while celebrating.

But it was Salah’s strike in the second minute of first-half injury time that will go down in the record books.

It meant that the Egyptian King became the first away player in history to score in five consecutive matches at Old Trafford.

The run started in January 2021 when the winner scored in a 3-2 defeat in the FA Cup fourth round, and continued later that season in the 4-2 Premier League win.

Salah would bag a hattrick in the 5-0 demolition in October 2021 before scoring again in the 2-1 defeat in August 2022 – Erik ten Hag’s first win as United manager.

His fifth came on Sunday, his 13th in 14 appearances against the Red Devils, making him the leading scoring in this fixture.
