Lizzo has reached incredible heights with her career in recent years, whether it be going viral on TikTok, winning Grammys, or performing at Glastonbury.

However, the star has now had enough.

In a shock statement, the Juice hitmaker has announced she is ‘quitting’ showbusiness.

Declaring ‘I quit’ in a dramatic statement, Lizzo, 35, has claimed she is being ridiculed online for her looks and her character.

The About Damn Time singer – real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson – does not make it clear what she is referring to or what sparked the online message.

But, it comes a day after a lawyer, who represents three former dancers who filed a lawsuit against Lizzo last August, said it was ‘shameful’ the singer headlined a Radio City fundraiser for President Joe Biden ‘amid such egregious allegations’.

‘I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,’ Lizzo said on Instagram.

‘All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.

‘I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look.

‘My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name.’

She ended the post saying: ‘I didn’t sign up for this s**t. I quit,’ with a peace sign emoji.

Responding to the post, which has had hundreds of thousands of likes, fans and celebrity pals offered their support.

‘We love you Queen😍👑’, commented Paris Hilton.

‘All of this. The internet isn’t real life. Protect you. We love you’, wrote Sophia Bush.

Todrick Hall commented: ‘I know it’s hard, but you inspire so many people! The art you make changes and saves lives. Sending you so much ❤️’

Josh Gad added: ‘This is the absolute truth. Hold your head up. The people who shout the loudest or the people who are the most insecure.’

Meanwhile, fans begged Lizzo not to give up on music, with many urging her to ‘continue to do what you love’.

Last August, Lizzo and her production company were sued by ex-dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, who accused the Good As Hell singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.

At the time, the pop star described the allegations as ‘gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing’, adding that the claims are ‘as unbelievable as they sound’.

Lizzo previously took to social media to address the accusations, writing in a statement in August: ‘My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticised.’

She added that it was never her ‘intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team’.

On Thursday (March 28), Lizzo appeared at Radio City Music Hall in New York for a fundraiser for the US president, which Mindy Kaling hosted.

Lawyer Ron Zambrano, who represents the three former dancers, reportedly told NewsNation: ‘It’s shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this amid such egregious allegations.’
