Klipsch has announced the release of some new monitor amplifiers, the Klipsch R-40PM and Klipsch R-50PM, and both models come with built-in power so there’s no need for external amplification.

The two new Klipsch monitors join the R-40M and R-50M passive design in the US maker’s Reference series of recharged amplifiers. Building on designs from the R-41PM and R-51PM to unlock even greater performance, enhanced bass is a pivotal upgrade for both new models. The R-40PM hits 60Hz, while its predecessor, the R-41PM, clocked at 76Hz. The R-50PM operates at 55Hz, against the R-51 PM’s threshold of 68Hz. To help deliver the biggest, most impactful bass response, Klipsch has increased cabinet depths on the new models; The R-40PM is 28% deeper than the previous model, and the R-50PM adds 27%. The height and width remain identical, and the new designs remain easily compact enough to fit in many placements, including desktops and shelves, yet large enough to deliver room-filling stereo sound.

Both models also feature a new, larger edge-to-edge Tractrix horn design that provides improved coverage, bandwidth, and directional control. Expect enhanced control over where you want sound to travel in your room. Klipsch is upping the visuals, too—see the new ‘beauty bar’ between the 25mm Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) tweeter and the spun copper tweeter, the thermoformed crystalline (TCP) tweeter and the absence of visible mounts. very smart. And while the speaker’s rear panel is mainly out of sight, it receives a new text color for better readability. Klipsch is also upgrading the speaker terminals.

Key features of the R-40PM and R-50PM powered monitors include:

  • Dynamic Bass EQ: Monitors feature dynamically controlled low-frequency response that optimizes bass performance in real time, ensuring perfect bass no matter the volume
  • Flexible Connectivity: Options include Bluetooth wireless, optical, RCA, USB, and 3.5mm jack
  • Built-in powerful amplification: The R-40PM delivers 70W total system power, while the R-50PM delivers 120W power
  • Premium Klipsch Drivers: The R-40PM features a 100mm TCP tweeter and 25mm LTS aluminum tweeter, while the R-50PM has a 130mm TCP tweeter and the same 25mm tweeter
  • Speakerphone: Add a turntable and instantly play recordings through Klipsch speakers
  • Modest footprint: The decorative design of the R-40PM and R-50PM make it a perfect fit for any space, and there’s no need for an external speaker.
