A furious Jurgen Klopp stormed off after being asked a ‘dumb question’ following Liverpool’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester United.

Liverpool’s dreams of winning a quadruple were ended on Sunday at the hands of their arch-rivals after Amad Diallo scored the winner in 121st minute.

For the most part, the Reds did not look their usual self, with Klopp bemoaning that the amount of games his side have played this season had finally taken its toll at Old Trafford.

The manager himself was clearly exhausted and that perhaps explains why he was irate with one particular reporter post-match.

Speaking to Norwegian television channel VSport1, Klopp was asked by the interviewer: ‘Normally intensity is the name of your game, so how come it became so difficult in extra time?’

With a bemused look on his face, the German snapped back: ‘Bit of a dumb question I feel…

‘We have played, I don’t know how many games recently. I don’t know how many games United have exactly played.

‘That’s sport. I’m really disappointed with that question, but you thought, obviously, it’s good.’

The reporter replied: ‘So, too many games,’ but Klopp had had enough, patting him on the shoulder and forcing his way past him.

As he walked away, he said: ‘Come on, you are obviously not in a great shape and I have no nerves for you.’

It is hardly the first time Klopp has had a frosty encounter with the media. Only last week he appeared to aim a dig at Sky Sports’ hiring of ex-referee Mike Dean following Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City.

He sarcastically said: ‘Again, you will find people… don’t you employ Mike Dean, is he working for Sky?

‘Congratulations, that’s a great appointment by the way. He will find something and all the others as well.’
