Nowadays, it’s less about choosing between resolution and refresh rate and more about finding a good gaming monitor deal. 60Hz is firmly in the rearview mirror as triple-figure frame rates are more affordable than ever. Pair it with 1440p, which is essentially the new HD, and you have a winning combination.
Enter the 27in MSI MAG 275CQRXF, which is currently at its lowest price ever. It features uncompromising specs, packing 240Hz, QHD resolution, and a 1ms GtG response time. The name of the game is immersion, with a steep 1,000R curve that’ll suck you right into the gameplay.
This is the screen’s first discount in the five months it’s been out, and it’s nothing to scoff at. Amazon UK chops 13% off the price tag, bringing it down to £348.97, while Amazon US saves you 11% by bringing it down to $309.99.
It doesn’t list Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreeSync, but it does include variable refresh rate compatibility. Adaptive sync, as it’s called here, is the same as its branded counterparts, as there’s little difference between the three. It’ll still keep your frames in check and prevent your screen from tearing.
The VA panel won’t quite be as sharp as the OLED behind our MSI MPG 321URX review, but it will feature the company’s custom colour calibration. MSI claims 116% sRGB coverage and 92% DCI-P3. I wouldn’t be surprised to see AdobeRGB also above that 90% threshold, but don’t quote me on that.
VA also comes with the benefit of better contrast than IPS and better brightness than OLED. DisplayHDR 400 is on the lower side for high-dynamic range, but HDR compatibility of any kind is a welcome addition.
The cherry on top is MSI’s KVM switch, which lets you use one set of peripherals through the monitor to control two systems. You’ll connect these devices to the display using one Type-B and one Type-C port, while there are two Type-A upstreams for your mouse and keyboard.
The DisplayPort 1.4a is the ideal companion for PCs, while dual HDMI 2.0 ports are great for other devices, including consoles. There’s even a 1440p VRR console mode to make the most of your PS5 and Xbox Series devices.
Since this deal is on Amazon, you can try the gaming monitor for yourself by using the retailer’s 30-day return window.
