A woman allegedly admitted to fatally beating her mother with a cooking pot after they got into an argument in their apartment.
Skydajah Patterson, 26, struck her mom, Selma Mclean, 46, inside their unit at the President Adams Houses complex in the Bronx at 3.40am on Monday, police sources told the New York Post.
‘I just killed my mom,’ Patterson told an emergency operator, according to the sources.
Arriving authorities discovered Mclean unconscious and non-responsive. The mother had signs of trauma on her head and faces, the sources said.
Meanwhile, they reportedly found Patterson still holding the kitchen pot that was full of blood.
Patterson confessed to using the pot to strike her mother on the back of her head and that she saw her falling unconscious, sources said. There were no other witnesses.
Mclean was rushed to Lincoln Hospital and was pronounced dead there, NBC New York reported.
The daughter was arrested but did not immediately have charges brought against her.
Mclean had reportedly called cops two times in the past saying she was being attacked by her daughter, sources said.
Danaeyah Reynolds, 26, who is Mclean’s goddaughter, said Patterson had been released from a psych ward in February.
‘She started hearing voices and started speaking in a man’s voice last night. My godmother said she was afraid,’ Reynolds told the Post.
‘When I got here I looked in and I could see blood on the couch. They say it was too late to resuscitate her. I opened the door and just saw blood.’
The apartment is in a New York City Housing Authority complex. Mclean had three daughters, two of which lived with her including Patterson, family members said.
Mclean’s death comes a few months after an 85-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 81-year-old wife dead in their Washington, DC, home after refusing to eat pancakes that she cooked.
