Corsair has announced the HS35 v2 Series of wired headsets with multiplatform compatibility. Whether you use a PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or tablet, you’ll have it all, and at an affordable price to boot.

The HS35 v2 will be available in regular and surround sound versions. The former is cheaper and comes in three colours – black, blue, and red, whereas the latter ditches the blue option. As you may have guessed, the Surround model improves users’ immersion with Dolby 7.1 on PC and Mac. As usual, the only way to use this feature is via USB, which means consoles don’t benefit from it.

It’s not a total wash, though, as you can still use this headset through a 3.5mm audio jack. In addition to the Surround feature, you can tune the EQ curve to your liking through the iCUE app.

Sound emanates from custom-tuned 50mm drivers, and there’s an omnidirectional mic on both models. It’s unclear if you can remove the mic, but it looks firmly attached from the images. It’d be a nice addition if so, as you could easily wear this series outside thanks to its sober design. As usual, you will find volume and mic-mute controls on the side.

Build-wise, Corsair opted for a headband similar to its wired HS80 RGB headset. That’s a plus in my book, as the ski band approach fits different head sizes better and evenly distributes weight. Meanwhile, the part connecting the cans to the headband is a bit different. The HS35 v2 attaches the ear muffs from both sides which seems more durable than the HS80. While I would have preferred something even stiffer, like the HS70, we can’t have it all at this price range.

Talking of which, you can find Corsair HS35 v2 Multiplatform Gaming Headset for £39.99/$49.99/€49.99, with the HS35 Surround v2 coming a bit higher at £49.99/$59.99/€59.99. They will be available in Europe and other regions worldwide on April 30. Now that Corsair has a wide range of wired and wireless headsets, all that’s left is a model with dual-swappable batteries.
