Paramount+ is producing a prequel to the classic horror film Rosemary’s Baby, and there are already a ton of terrifying updates about Apartment 7A. Based on the novel of the same name by Ira Levin, Rosemary’s Baby is the story of a young woman who is expecting her first child. However, her moment of parental bliss is interrupted by strange goings on in the apartment building that seems to be demonic in origin and is out for her and her unborn child.

Apartment 7A is far from the first modern film to serve as a prequel to a classic horror movie, and the trend has recently been seen in the likes of The First Omen. Though prequels can oftentimes be hit or miss, Rosemary’s Baby is unique because it has largely been untouched by the sequel bug, and has only seen a few sporadic remake attempts. With so much of the power of Levin’s original story contained within the urban paranoia and body horror of motherhood, it will be curious to see how Apartment 7A tackles its demonic source material in a new age.
