With so many manufacturers moving into the field of AI gaming laptops, the recently spotted Asus ROG Zephrys flagship looks to be leading the charge with its Strix Point APU. Price estimations position this machine around the $2,000 mark.

As covered by Wccftech, the upcoming Asus ROG Zephyrus Strix Point gaming laptop will feature a 12-core Zen 5 AMD Ryzen CPU combined with 32GB LPDDR5X memory and 24MB of L3 cache. It’s part of the next generation of gaming laptop hardware. This is combined with the RTX 4070M and a 16in OLED WQXGA OLED display. What’s more, its listing has also apparently been leaked as GA605WI-O93210G0W, according to a briefly-lived listing online. The AMD Ryzen 8000 APUs certainly have potential.

While this leaked information is likely intended for Computex later this month, the listing and product descriptions go a long way to give the impression of what Zen 5 mobile can do. Turning our attention to the APU specifically, it supposedly features an RDNA 3 iGPU with 16 CUs at the top end, which will likely be bolstered for AI usage rather than gaming, given the discrete graphics inside. While unconfirmed by Team Red, we believe the CPU could be the AMD Ryzen 9 8955HS, which should sit at the top end of the stack.

Now we can deep dive more into AMD’s Strix Point hardware, other models could be rocking Ryzen 8050 branding, too. It looks to be a massive step up from what we saw from the Ryzen 6000 series a couple of years ago, which isn’t too surprising given the implementation of AI computing. This machine is just one of 14 Asus next-generation laptops which are reportedly in production according to Videocardz. A listing for a new power adapter mentions other GA6 machines as well as FA4, FA6, and the creator-led M76 and HN7 SKUs.

While Asus ROG Strix models are the flagship and TUF Gaming laptops are the more wallet-friendly alternatives, it’s looking as though there could be less separating them now than at other times with the previous generation. The alleged listing showcases that both lines will feature up to an RTX 4070M, as well as the lower-power RTX 4050M and RTX 4060M. That means you’re realistically going to splash out extra for the design, battery life, storage size, and display above all else. We’ll update you as we learn more in the coming weeks.
