Visiting him again will start ‘A Magisterial Amenity’ quest, where you’ll be tasked with bringing him a pair of exquisite spectacles he can’t read without. Here’s what you need to do.
How To Start ‘A Magisterial Amenity’
After you save Waldhar from the Gaol, wait a few days, then visit him in the Gracious Hand Underground Vaults to start ‘A Magisterial Amenity’ quest. Waldhar will ask the Arisen to help him out one more time by finding a pair of exquisite spectacles specially made for him that are currently stored in the Palace Storeroom. He’ll also advise the player to use the Masquerade as a cover to enter the Palace grounds and steal the spectacles when no one is looking.
If you’ve talked to Sven and triggered the ‘Veil of Gossamer Clouds’ quest, bring Disa’s unwritten letter to Waldhar and he’ll translate its meaning, giving you clues to what’s really going on with the godsway.
How To Get Waldhar’s Spectacles
The Spectacles are found in one of the rooms at the back of the Masquerade Hall, the exact location is marked in the screenshot above. Follow Waldhar’s advice and enter the Masquerade disguised as a guest at night. You’ll need to wear formal raiment (Courtly Shirt and Courtly Breeches) to let the guard let you in.
The Masquerade ball is not held every night. If you visit the Hall on one of these days, the guard will inform you that the ball isn’t being held today. Ignore him and enter anyway; the door should be open.
Enter the Hall and circle around the outer perimeter to reach the hidden rooms at the far end. Enter the room to the left, and you’ll find the spectacles sitting on a shelf, ready to be picked up (shown above).
If this is your first time attending the Masquerade, entering the Hall will trigger ‘A Noble Exchange’ side quest. Luckily, you can complete this side quest and pick up Waldhar’s spectacles in the same visit.
