Deal of the day: Intel Core i9-14900K falls to its lowest price yet

After going 24 rounds against Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, the previous-gen Core i9-14900K proves it’s still a monstrous CPU worth your consideration in 2024. Add a sweet discount that brings the price to a new low, and the former flagship holds more value than you can shake a stick at.

Behold the power of a 24-core desktop chip capable of 6GHz turbo frequencies. Even in 2024, there’s very little out there like this beast. Read our review.

While stocks last, you can grab i9-14900K for up to 37% cheaper. The chip is down to just $440 on Amazon US, which is the cheapest I’ve ever seen. Blighty gets the same model for £439, while folks in Europe can snag one for as little as €463.95. Just click the button above to see whether it’s on sale in your region.

Using our Club386 CPU Value Rating shows just how stark the price-to-performance is between the 14th Gen and its successor. By taking its Cinebench 2024 multi-core score and dividing its launch price in US dollars, Intel Core Ultra 9 285K sits at 3.81. Comparatively, i9-14900K’s newly low price gives it a whopping score of 4.94. There isn’t much else on the market that comes close.

Intel Core i9-14900K has a value rating of 4.94 against Core Ultra 9 285K at 3.81.

It’s easy to see why it achieves such a high result when breaking down its specs. With eight performance cores and 16 efficient cores, 14900K runs away with a total of 24 cores that can draw as much as 253W of power. Uncapped and let loose, the heavyweight champion still goes toe-to-toe with all of Intel’s and AMD’s newcomers.

While 36MB of L3 cache doesn’t match the likes of Ryzen 7000X3D, you can rely on a massive 6GHz turbo clock to handle games with ease. Just make sure you tame the temperatures with the best CPU cooler so you can reach its true performance ceiling.

Based on LGA1700, the platform isn’t forward-compatible with Core Ultra, but it still offers a healthy selection of benefits. Alongside Thunderbolt 4 on the top-tier boards, you get PCIe 5 M.2 slots and swift DDR5 memory. It’s also the last to support DDR4, although I wouldn’t recommend it with silicon of this calibre.

If you’ve heard horror stories about this processor, you can put them to the back of your mind. While some models saw degradation due to excessively high power loads, Intel has a fix in the form of a BIOS update. Just make sure you’re on the latest, and you’re good to go with an exceptional CPU in your system.

As usual, I recommend you get one before they’re all gone. If you change your mind after purchase, Amazon gives you up to 30 days to send it back for a full refund. There’s no reason not to try it out for yourself.
